Loved getting to know Liliana who loves downstairs - the kindest and most helpful! And loved the little treats she left us too. Walkable location was great. Walked down to Blu Bar on the water every morning for granita and brioche, La Conchiglia next door was our best pizza on the trip and incredible seafood pasta too.

It was an honour to stay in this beautiful family home with such heritage and history. Full of memories and links to the past this is a very special place. As a multigenerational family we all loved the peace and beauty of Castello Claves. We were welcomed like family and enjoyed a reunion in this very special place. The pool and gardens are beautiful with masses of wild life. The castle is beyond words. With the sea to the from and Mt Etna behind you this wonderful oasis is everything you could want and more.

We stayed at Castello Claves for a week and had the best family holiday! we were 10 adults and 2 kids, a 4 and 1 year old. the kids had a blast - they lived at the pool which was just incredible. Liliana was such a gorgeous host. she welcomed us, gave us great tips, lent us utensils for the BBQ and she shared the most amazing home made olive oil. We cooked a lot at home and enjoyed the multiple terraces. some nights we had take out pizza from the local restaurant 5min walk away and on two occasions we went to local restaurants that were a 5min drive away. We drove to avoid the 20 or 30min walk in 30degrees with two small kids...but you could also walk. Highly recommend! everyone had the best time eating, drinking, swimming and exploring!

A great place to stay just as advertised. The location is a little out of the way; not too many amenities in walking distance - you need a car to get places and have to be bold with your driving! Pool was wonderful, lots of history in the house and Liliana was a great host. The whole family enjoyed it.

Amazingly beautiful house with incredible views of Etna and the Ionian Sea. A castle full of so much character and history with a lovely swimming pool and olive grove. Our host, Liliana, was very friendly, knowledgeable and hospitable, the wine and cake were very welcome. A holiday like no other and always to be remembered.

I and my family of 8 had a lovely time at this very special place. Signora Liliana welcomed us warmly and we loved the spacious accommodation, the ample terraces, the comfortable beds, the lovely mature garden and the swimming pool, but most of all the feeling that we were in a very much loved place with many memories of the history of the house and its previous occupants in the furnishings and fittings. We would very much have liked to have stayed longer.

What a wonderful place to visit and stay for a few days. Beautiful interiors, ample cosy places to curl up with a book, exceptional exterior places to hang out in- not to mention the pool - and the unicorn floats! Our group was 7 adults. We had the grounds to ourselves for the most part. It was a home from home. Our host was magnificent- always available and always smiling. This was a tremendous experience. You will need a car for transportation- as this location was tucked away from the tourist spots. This castle was a little piece of heaven on earth. We will definitely be going back to visit - and stay!

Staying at Castello Claves was truly a magical experience. The owner of the villa is a wonderful lady who lives on the ground floor of the castle, on the completely opposite side – so discreet and kind that you barely notice anyone is there, yet everything runs perfectly. Her warmth, hospitality, and willingness to help at any moment left a lasting impression – she is truly exceptional.

She welcomed us with homemade pastries, a bottle of wine, and a beautiful basket of fresh fruit – such a thoughtful and heartwarming gesture that instantly made us feel at home.

The castle itself is magnificent. Imposing from the outside, with beautiful architectural details, and inside it exudes charm, history, and a unique sense of tranquility. Every corner feels like something out of a fairytale – it’s not something you can explain, it has to be experienced.

The surroundings are stunning: lush Mediterranean vegetation, the scent of pine trees, olives, and flowers, all accompanied by the constant sound of birdsong. The view of the sea and the rooftops of the nearby village is incredibly calming – especially when enjoyed from the terrace, where you truly don’t feel like leaving the estate.

The pool in the garden is a story of its own – surrounded by palm trees and old trees, with comfortable loungers and cozy seating areas. It’s the perfect spot to relax, read a book, or enjoy a glass of wine in the shade.

I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic Sicilian experience – not as a tourist, but as a welcome guest in a dignified, magical home.

We had a wonderful week at Castello Claves and felt really lucky to find this beautiful place. Liliana was so welcoming - it was so interesting to learn about the history of the Castello and her family. The views of Etna to one side of the house and the sea to the other were spectacular and Liliana’s olive oil and homemade cake delicious! The property was well located for a short walk into Stazzo for gelato/beer/coffee. All ten of us (aged 5y to 82y) loved this property and would highly recommend staying here

From the moment the gates opened at the castle, it was clear to our family, that we were entering a magical place. The photos do not do it justice. We were greeted by Lilliana, host/owner who gave us a tour of the house and garden, complete with the history of it's existence. Castle is filled with family photos and antiques. We felt honored that Lilliana would share her home with us. The walled in garden, complete with swings and pool provided a safe place for our grandchildren to play. The location was conveniently located to the sights we wished to visit, Mount Etna, Catania, Taormina and Syracuse. A short walk from the castle is a restaurant, La Conchiglia and the Blue Bar. I recommend both. There is a good supermarket ten minutes by car. You will need a car as well as patience to navigate the terrain and the narrow roads. Driving can be tricky. Our family enjoyed our week in paradise. I highly recommend this property.

Liliana ist die beste Gastgeberin, die man sich denken kann. Freundlich, unaufdringlich und soooo nett. Das Haus ist mit allem Interieur aus dem frühen 20. Jahrhundert. Das muss man mögen und wir haben das sehr genossen. Das bekommt man nicht alle Tage. Der Pool hat uns viel Spaß gemacht. Wir können die Unterkunft nur weiterempfehlen. Ins Turmzimmer sollte allerdings nur, wer dazu noch körperlich und Lage ist.

We had a wonderful week at Castello Claves, Liliana looked after us so well and it was wonderful to hear all about the history of her family and the castle. The location was a few mins walk from the harbour where there are a couple of restaurants and bars, also a diving school where you can take a boat out to see dolphins. The Castle is beautiful, lots of history, very unique with fabulous views all around from the roof top. The pool is large and the whole place is super private. Would love to visit again one day! Overall enjoyed our stay at the Castello claves. We were greeted with a home made cake and a bowl of lemons from the garden! The castle home is filled with antiques and photos from the owners family. We all enjoyed the pool, amazing views of the ocean and Mt Etna. We especially enjoyed family dinners on the veranda! The town of Stazzo is quite small and a car is necessary to access tourist sites.

An incredible stay in stunning surroundings. The Castello itself is sympathetically decorated with antiques giving it the feel of an authentic Sicilian home. Fantastic views of Etna to the back and views of the sea from the front terrace. You have the top two floors but it feels as though you have the full Castello. The area of Stazzo is sparse in terms of restaurants but has a wonderfully stocked corner shop. Some good restaurants within walking distance in Santa Tecla, a car would be advisable. Possibly the best thing about Castello Claves is Lilliana who is warm and welcoming and there to help. Will absolutely return!

Liliana hat uns sehr nett empfangen und uns eine Führung durch das Anwesen gegeben und von der Geschichte des Hauses erzählt. Sie war immer verfügbar, wenn wir was gebraucht haben. Der Poolbereich ist sehr großzügig und eignet sich hervorragend um ganze Nachmittage dort zu verbringen. Die Zimmer und die Bäder waren sehr sauber, aber das Haus ist alt, das sollte man bedenken, wenn man sich für das schöne Castello entscheidet und daher auch mit etwas Patina rechnen. Alles in allem hatten wir eine wunderbare Woche im Castello verbracht. Auf jeden Fall weiter zu empfehlen, wenn man als Größere Gruppe unterwegs ist!

This is a large unique place with huge amounts of old world charm. Everything works and everthing is there. But in addition there are photos, pictures, furniture, lights, mirrors going back across family generations since the place was built. Massive character. The beds are old and perhaps they could do with modern linen. There was no TV which was great. You can see Etna clearly from the back. The garden was massive and somewhat overgrown. The pool was excellent but cold but this is what you would expect for May. The place is very secure. Some local dogs bark from time to time. The sheer charm of the place, the many rooms, the staircase, the large veranda where we had dinner several times, are the best memories. And Liliana the host was exceptionally nice.

Our stay was absolutely incredible in Lilianas castle! A truly unique experience, incredible history and beautiful antiques everywhere. The pool area is the best I have ever experienced in a holiday rental. Enormous and plenty of comfy seating for everyone to lounge. Lots of nearby great days out. The pictures do not do the grandeur justice. Do not hesitate to book, you wll not regret it!! Oh and Liliana is absolutely lovely!! 10/10 experience ????

The castle is old and charming. Liliana is the best host I have ever met, you truly feel welcome and connected to her family history. The is very big and we could still enjoy it at the end of October. The only negative thing in my sensitive point of view are the barking dogs in the neighborhood.

Amazing castle with extensive garden & private pool set in a lovely small village. Views of the sea and Etna. Balcony and roof terrace as well as two tower rooms. Fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. There are several vineyards nearby and lots of fantastic places to and visit nearby. Warmly recommend this place for family holidays.

Castello Claves er en helt unik feriebolig! Meget gode fasiliteter, med stort bassengområde og luftige verandaer. Eiendommen byr på mange muligheter for en stor gruppe på tur. Vi var to familier som tilbrakte en ferieuke sammen og alle fikk sine behov dekket, voksne som barn. Rom og innredning var velholdt og vakkert møblert med bruk av varige materialer som fliser, marmor og heltre som tåler tiden tann. Hagen var velstelt og vakker - det var rett og slett et eventyr av et sted! Liliana og mammaen hennes (på 100 år) var utrolig søte og det var ikke til noen sjenanse å ha husverten boende i første etasje. Vi kommer gjerne tilbake!

Our family had the most wonderful time on our Sicilian adventure! The Villa was like stepping back in time. We cooked most of our meals in. The pool was picture perfect, and the balconies were inviting for playing games, dining or reading books. We enjoyed walking down to the Marina for coffee or evenIng drinks. There was a nice restaurant as well. I would recommend renting a car to explore. Although the Villa has five bedrooms, we found it comfortably slept our group of six. The turret bedroom didn’t have a bath, and the spiral staircase wasn’t for the faint of heart. The other bedroom had two cots which were better suited to small children, not adults. Both of these points are clearly stated in the listing, and we weren’t bothered at all. Liliana was lovely! An incredible host, We felt so welcome and safe in her family home.

We felt truly at home at Castello Claves. Owner and ground floor resident Liliana Di Re loving has created and curated unique details in every room and in the ample gardens to showcase the story of her remarkable family. We never grew tired of discovering photos, objects, and assemblages that showcased their story and Liliana's unique artistic talents. She helped us contact an extraordinary local chef to cater a special birthday luncheon under a flowering pergola on the main terrace; we also dined under the stars on the rooftop and enjoyed relaxing around the ample pool. The castle is equipped with ample bedding and towels, and the handsome dishes and glassware were plentiful. The town of Stazzo is a bit scrufty, but the little supermarket there easily supplied us with fresh bread, food, drink and other essentials when we were not otherwise enjoying easy day trips to Taormina, Catania, Aci Castello, and Siracusa. Would go back in a heart beat!

The property is even more beautiful than the pictures! The pool area is drenched in sun all day (there are shades if you want them). There are two large balconies, one designed for breakfast, one for evening aperativo. The rooms are all very comfortable and artfully decorated over the last 120 years of family ownership. Liliana is delightful and left us homemade marmalade and cakes as well as basic breakfast supplies. Don't forget to check out her hand made bags available for sale in the tower too! It is a wonderful place to stay, my only note is you will probably want a car just because Stazzo isn't that big. That said we whiled away many joyful hours sitting by the pool, walking in the garden or taking in the views of Enta and the sea. You can't go wrong!

Manchmal versprechen die Fotos mehr, als es die Realität hergibt. Aber dieses Schloss ist unglaublich, die Fotos bilden eine gute Ahnung ab. Wir haben uns sofort zuhause gefühlt. Lagebewertung: Auf der einen Seite der Etna in voller Pracht, auf der anderen das Meer zu sehen. Bis zur nächsten Location für jugendliche Berliner benötigt man ein Auto. Deshalb nur 4 Sterne in dieser Kategorie. Ansonsten aus meiner Sicht: Mindestens 10 Sterne. Ein Traum. Abgefahren, irre, ein Jagdschloss. In der Kategorie Familienurlaub mit 9 Personen von 25-85 Jahren: Perfekt (Es sei denn, jemand kann absolut keine Treppen mehr steigen). So ein tolles Anwesen habe ich noch nie bewohnt.

We had the most wonderful week at Castle Claves. The castle, gardens and pool were even more stunning than the pictures. The resident Liliana was utterly delightful, charming, helpful and completely respected our privacy. The castle is rich in history and full of atmosphere. We felt transported into an authentic little paradise. The only downfall was having to leave at the end of our stay... We couldn't recommend this magical experience more and are already planning our return next year!

A wonderful place to stay, a great setting, easy walk to bars/ restaurants/ the sea. Amazing views of etna and the sea from the roof terrace. Lots of fascinating pictures, maps and artefacts throughout the house. We had fabulous weather at the end of October, we used the beautiful pool most days.

Wir führen geschäftlich ein sehr Leben in Berlin.... Das Paradies, das wir im Schlösschen erlebt haben, hat uns nicht nur entspannt. Das war viel mehr: wir waren glücklich, die Kinder mit dem unglaublichen Pool und wir, Erwachsen, mit dem Garten (das ist kein gewöhnlicher Garten, das ist ein Gefühl außerhalb der Welt zu sein, von Olivenbäumen bis zu Palmen, wir war einfach überall in der Welt)... Die Gastgeberin bewohnt zwar den Erdgeschoss, ist aber unglaublich unkompliziert, mischt sich in nichts ein, ist ausschließlich eine nette Nachbarin... Ich habe meiner weit in der Welt zerstreuter Familie, von Amerika, über Deutschland bis nach Russland lebend, dieses Anwesen als unser nächstes Familientreffen vorgeschlagen und wäre glücklich, wenn es klappt..... Mein Mann meinte, er hat mich noch nie (und ich bin ein ausgesprochen fröhlicher Mensch) so glücklich, wie in dem Schlösschen erlebt.... Ich Danke ganz herzlich Liliane, die dieses Haus am Laufen hält, AirBinBi, Nina u d Guliane. die diese Reis ermöglicht haben... ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Wir lieben Euch alle u d dieses ungewöhnliches Anwesen

A beautiful castle in a stunning location. The host is very welcoming and helpful. The pool is brilliant. The wildlife, birds and lizards in the day and little bats at night were a real pleasure for us. The garden was full of flowers and picking lemons from the trees was a real treat. The castle is crammed with amazing objects but ok for two lively boys (7 and 5). The property is close to various places of interest. Don’t miss Lorenzo's restaurant in the next village. Highly recommend for a memorable holiday.

Our stay at Lilianas house was perfect and wonderful! The house and its garden with the pool are most beautiful. We stayed with a total number of 10 persons and travelled with 3 children (2 months, 1 1/2 years and 2 years). There were sleeping cods for all three children. The terrace is big enough for them to play safely. The pool is fenced and with its size perfect for entertaining children of all ages. On the other side its big enough for adults to swim laps. The ocean is only a 5 minute walk away. There are several possibilities to dive into the ocean. However, the rocky beaches are less suitable for swimming with smaller children. The kitchen is very well equiped including a dish washer and a washing mashine. Liliana is a very pleasant lady, a lovely host and always very helpful. We could not have asked for a better place to stay! Thank you

This property is a hidden gem. The "castle" is situated amidst several acres of a beautifully groomed private park, with flowering vines, palm trees and a huge and well maintained swimming pool - a true oasis from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding seaside villages. Yet you are only a 200 yard walk to the Stazzo waterfront. But the best part of the property is the castle itself. You'll feel like royalty staying in this beautifully appointed house full of family heirlooms. The kitchen is fully equipped, as is the large dining room. There are several terraces on different levels from which you have stunning views of the sea on one side and Mt. Etna on the other. With five bedrooms and three bathrooms, the castle proved to be the perfect venue for a family gathering to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. It also proved to be a good base to see the sights of eastern Sicily, including Mt. Etna, Catania, Syracusa, Noto, Ragusa, and Modica - most of which are within a 30-90 minute driving radius. On our next visit, we plan to do less sight-seeing and more time relaxing at the castle and chatting with it's charming owner, Liliana!

Ett så vackert slott. Varenda detalj är vald med omtanke, fotografier på familjen, antika möbler och föremål. Tack Liliana för att du där så generös och lånar ut ditt hem till oss. Vi har verkligen njutit av att efter äventyr på ön komma "hem" till kastellet. Vi trängdes i det gemytliga köket och lagade pasta vid den stora spisen. Middagen avnjöt vi i matsalen med en fantastisk utsikt över trädgården och medelhavet. Frukosten tidig morgon med solen skinande genom de stora fönsterpartierna och en espresso på terassen kommer vi att bära med oss för alltid. Tack också för våra fina samtal. Eva-Maria, Ulrich, Heli, Michael, Pamela och Åke.

Le lieu est magique. Au-delà de sa beauté, de l’espace, de la (grande) piscine, nous avons été touchés par l’histoire qui s’en dégage. Le château a une âme, ce qui change du caractère impersonnel qu’on peut rencontrer parfois dans certaines locations... Tout cela est renforcé par la gentillesse de Liliana, à la fois discrète et tellement chaleureuse. Nous (2 familles de 9 personnes au total) avons été vraiment privilégiés de passer une semaine dans cette demeure au pied du majestueux Etna.
