x“We spent a week enjoying this amazing villa - it is a perfect space for families or couples. It is well located to enjoy the nearby towns, however you will need a car. A beautiful space which we very much enjoyed”
"This Villa could not have been more perfect for our girls getaway! The authentic style of the interiors hardly shows in the photos and we spent loads of time lounging around the gorgeous pool and drinking wine overlooking the beautiful stream. We took advantage of the huge kitchen by having a private chef cook for us one night and also did a pasta making class. Our hosts also arranged horseback riding for us and were available at any time if we had questions. Mario and Rosella could not have been more welcoming and friendly. The Villa is super close to the town if you need groceries or dinner and from there we also drove into Noto for dinner one evening, went sailing and swimming in the sea, and explored Ortigia. We really could not have had a better time, we will be back again!"
"Merveilleuse maison. Irrésistible accueil. Environnement exceptionnel Fabuleux. Très dur de partir...."
"We visited in July 2019 and our party of six ranging in age from four to ninety had a fantastic time at the villa. Rosella and Mario were so welcoming and ensured that we were made aware of all that the villa and the surrounding area had to offer. The property is situated in a lush valley, and the grounds are laid out to make the most of the scenery. An aqueduct and various water courses run through the grounds which with the sound of running water as the only background noise makes for an incredibly peaceful place. The swimming pool area is particularly well laid out and we spent many happy hours there. The villa is well equipped, comfortable and the shabby chic interior design adds to the relaxing feel of the place. The villa is well situated as a base to visit the beautiful baroque towns and villages of Ragusa and Syracuse Provinces and it is only an hour and a quarter from Catania airport. We were lucky enough to visit during the celebration of St Paul which was a fantastic spectacle of fireworks and confetti watched by thousands crammed into the small town of Palazollo Acreide. in summary a wonderful part of the world and the perfect place to experience it from. Thank you Rosella and Mario."
"We spent a week in this idyllic house. We had 5 adults and 1 three year old and everyone loved their stay. The house: Absolutely stunning, with plenty of space for even a larger group. Totally tranquil surrounded by nature - you listen to the waterfall cascading down while sitting out in the enclosed upper garden (perfect with an active little one). It was warm when we stayed, but the house remained cool and pleasant all day and a comfortable temperature for sleeping. The pool: Is a great mix of shallows for the little one and nice for swimming and lounging or cooling off while you sunbathe in the comfortable loungers. There is a shower, toilet and fridge by the pool so perfect to let you spend all day down there. The grounds are stunning with aquaducts running around the terraces leaving a lush green garden with orchards and herbs. Everything smells lovely. The town is just the right size, with amazing local produce (we went to the local fishmonger and cooked the best tuna I've ever eaten one night) and plenty of restaurants and shops. I cannot recommend it enough!!"
"Incredibile ! fantastico !
Amazing and very unique place!! An old water mill estate restored, decorated and re-furnished with lots of taste to create a unique and genuine atmosphere!
The owners (Rossella and Mario) are wonderful hosts, very friendly! They will do everything to welcome you and make you feel at home, they became like family to us! The house is super clean, they can provide cleaning services throughout your stay, organize meals (from breakfast to dinners) with prime products from the area of Palazzolo Acreide so that you can discover the best of this Eastern part of Sicily! Rossella really knows how to receive guests, it truly is a "family home" where you feel you have spent all your life and holidays! Incredible hospitality!
We also met Sandrine, who helps them to take care of the place, she is fantastic and sweet as well!
We really felt home (and even better!)!
Staying there and meeting them were a wonderful experience! We are already looking forward to travel back to Palazzolo Acreide! A warm thank you to our hosts!"
"My family of 10 (ranging in age from 5 to 86) spent 14 very happy nights here. The 300 year old beautifully restored miller’s house is located in a serene oasis on a rushing spring-fed stream and has beautiful views of the surrounding area. It was probably the best vacation we’ve ever had. The property has fruit trees, terraced gardens, horses, a lovely patio with great morning sun, a large dining table inside and another outside. We were so happy there we travelled around less than we thought we would. Mario and Rosella were so warm and welcoming and also helped with many sightseeing ideas. (Take the tour of the 14th century mill with Mario on the property.) The local town, Palazzolo Acreide, a three minute drive, is a UNESCO heritage site and deservedly so. A walk through the piazzas, the narrow streets and the 3rd century BCE Greek amphitheater is a must. Although it’s a small town, there is first class food there both in the restaurants and the various markets. We bought beautiful food in the town. Corsino and the shops close to it including the bakery and the cheese store at the top of via Nationale were all wonderful. The fruit and vegetable stores everywhere and the fish market are superb. Igor’s gas station had superb coffee all day for those who wanted it. After visiting the towns nearby, we would go back to the house which is beautifully cool in the summer. We spent our evenings by the pool with our feet in the water as the children swam. (The pool is not heated, but the children loved it.) The pool house is brand new and beautifully appointed. The linens are all of very high quality and deserve a mention. The main thing to know is that it’s restful, clean, beautiful and the perfect balance of rustic and comfort. Do be sure to visit Siracusa, Ortigia (before noon to catch the market), Ragusa, and especially Noto."
"This house was perfect for our family vacation.
We were a group of 8 adults and enjoyed it very, very much. It is a very special place, decorated with love, and cared for by their owners Rossella and Mario. When we arrived they showed us around and explained all the important things. They also gave us good tips for exploring the area and to shop for groceries. Each detail of the house and garden ist really thought through and special. The kitchen is big and fully equipped, so we really enjoyed cooking there and then sitting in the patio until late at night. The pool was also a highlight: perfectly clean and refreshing, with a fully equipped Bathroom right there (it doesnt show in de pictures because its new). The surroundings are also very beautiful. Palazzolo Acreide is a small town, very authentic and not as touristy as Noto or Siracusa, which are stunning and great for day-excursions at short driving distance. Communication with Rossella and Mario was always very quick and super nice. We absolutely loved meeting them and getting to stay in their wonderful house. Thank you!!!!"
"This is an extraordinarily special place.
The landscape is breathtaking and the sense of history is inspiring. The mill, the ancient stone work (dry wall for miles), the olive groves and lavendar fields, not to mention the creek, the pool and brand new pool house-all amazing. Little touches like antique lace trimmed bed linen gave us great pleasure. A tour of the old mill was a treat for the whole family (ages 6-76). And the kitchen has it all- equipped for a real family rather than a tourist drop in. The town of palazzola is a wonderful place as well with a great central square, baroque churches, and memorable architecture and wholly local street life- we walked to town daily. Everyone was enormously friendly but our hosts were first among them! Cant wait to return."
"Toller Ausblick. Es war eine schöne helle Wohnung mit tollem Ausblick."
"Landlig Siciliansk idyl i skønne omgivelser. Charmerende møllerbolig med vidunderlig have og meget søde værter, Mario og Rosella. Vi boede her i uge 42, hvilket var rigtig fint, til sommerbrug må her helt bestemt også være skønt. Haven har mange hyggelige kroge og områder bla med fin skyggefuld terraresse med grill... Poolområdet er dejligt og velholdt, til denne årstid er poolen lidt kølig. Der er mulighed for at tænde op i pejsen om aftenen. Tilkørslen er en snoet grusvej."
"Wunderbar traumhaft herrlich.
"Beautiful, quaint, relaxing. Lovely old farm house. Lovely thick stone walls. Pool area really nice and relaxing with the sound of the waterfall. Little BBQ area under a tree. So picturesque. Great location, close to little town with nice bars and restaurants and small supermarket. 1 hr from airport and loads of little baroque towns and unesco sites. Go to Ragusa and Noto and Seragusa."
"We loved our week here. The property is very characterful and the running water around the terrace feels very special. We arrived on Water Mills Open Day so even got a demo! The owners were charming and we loved that they had horses and bees there so it felt like a living place rather than just a holiday home. It's within easy walking distance of Palazzolo Accreide too which has interesting history, good restaurants and independent shops. We also bought in a meal from the owners' friend's menu - excellent food. Enough for two nights!"
"We had a lovely few nights staying at Casale Molinum. The setting was beautiful and the house is incredibly tastefully decorated and we are already looking forward to returning (this time hopefully for longer and with better weather!!)"
"Didn't want to leave! I can't say enough good things about this place. It is picturesque, comfortable, quiet, surrounded by beautiful countryside and fields of wild flowers. The manager, Mario, gave us a great tour of the centuries old mill on the property. Our days were idyllic--we'd sleep late, then take off about 11:00 to tour one of the small towns in the area. After a quiet lunch in one of the hundreds of small, delightful restaurants we'd return home to sit in our beautiful back yard and read while listening to the mill stream coursing by our house. The kitchen in the house has everything you could conceivably need, but there are restaurants in Pallazo Accredide just 5 minutes away. Shopping is easy and convenient, with butchers, bakers, produce stores, and supermarkets nearby. Perhaps the best vacation you've ever had!"
"Best of the best. We've used HomeAway for years and have always been happy with accommodations, but this one was far and away the best. The house is beautiful--large and comfortable, lovingly restored, peaceful, yet near to many attractions. The garden includes many fruit trees--olives, persimmons, lemons, apples, and more--and the sound of the creek right outside the master bedroom is relaxing. Mario (the owner) is passionate about local history, and maintains the property beautifully, using native grasses, keeping bees (hives are well away from the house), and maintaining the century-old working gristmill, which he will show you on request. The town is lovely and easy to reach, with excellent attractions in its own right, as well as being near to many of Sicily's most popular sites. We hope to return to this wonderful spot!"
buonissimo e abbondante.
Un abbraccio a Mario e rossella, spero a presto"
