Description
Authentically restored country-house oozing charm of an idyllic past amidst a delightful hilly landscape. Here you have a superb view on the Alcantara valley and a refreshing pool beneath the shadow of a fig tree.
The villa consists of a main building and an annex.
The main building is about 110 m² on 2 floors. On the ground floor there is a living room with adjoining fully-equipped kitchen. A staircase leads up to the sleeping area with 3 bedrooms and a bathroom with bathtub with shower and a washing machine.
The annex, which is about 40 m², provides you with an extra kitchen, a second bathroom and a fourth double bedroom on a mezzanine. You can access it from the outside, right next to the entrance of the main building.
Villa Idyllica is located right on the foot of a rocky hill. Following a path, you can reach its summit and enjoy an even superior view. It is also likely that you’ll see the four horses of the owner of Villa Idyllica running freely in this unspoiled scenery!
A garden full of Mediterranean vegetation surrounds the villa and, under a centuries-old olive tree, provides you with a great place for barbecues.
Villa Idyllica is ideal for a relaxing retreat and offers a genuine version of Sicily that is truly family-friendly. The first restaurant - the excellent Paradise Restaurant - is within walking distance (400 meters) and without spending much time in the car you can reach the stunning sandy beaches of Giardini Naxos, Taormina, the impressive gorges and ravines of the River Alcantara and, of course, Mt Etna and all the picturesque villages, as well as prestigious wineries and vineyards on its flanks.
SURROUNDINGS
The Alcantara Valley is one of the lushest valleys of Sicily thanks to the presence of the Alcantara River that supplies irrigation water to the many citrus orchards cultivated in the area all year round. Even during the hot and dry Sicilian summers, the Alcatara Rivers remains ice cold, providing to all its visitors with fresh relaxing moments. You can simply wet your feet and peacefully lying down on its beaches and on its rocks, or doing fun activities such us tubing excursions or exploring the river with its lava-stone walls and waterfalls by hiking or by riding a horse.
The Alcantara Valley is a truly strategic base from where to explore the Eastern side of Sicily. The charming town of Taormina, its vibrant coast and coast villages (30km of beaches from Fondachello to Sant’Alessio Siculo), Mt Etna and its authentic villages are all very close by.
If you are a wine-lover you cannot miss Castiglione di Sicilia, a nearby village known as ‘the city of wine’ (‘Città del Vino’) for its famous vineyards and wineries.

Location is lovely and quiet, beautiful views and you feel like you are in the heart of Sicily.
It was a nice and practical house in beautiful surroundings. The swimming pool was clean and inviting, and we had some friendly visits from the horses in the nearby field. A very positive surprise was the separate unit with a double bed, its own bathroom, and a kitchen. It worked perfectly for us, as we were two adults and five younger ones travelling together. We also enjoyed the small town of Gaggi, where we did our grocery shopping, had dinner at some nice restaurants, and visited the beautiful Alcantara Gorge. We chose the public entrance, which cost only a fraction of what the private one did. Gaggi was a great starting point for trips to both Taormina and Mount Etna.
A lovely rustic farmhouse in the countryside. Peaceful quiet and relaxing. The access road is uneven but this is the countryside. Mimmo was amazing We had a problem with our car and he spent his Sunday locating the part required and getting a local garage to open and repair for us . What a gentleman

Lovely location with stunning vista. Very peaceful yet reasonably close to Taormina and Giardini Naxos. Had a fun afternoon swimming at the Alcantara Gorge which is only a short drive away. We can recommend eating at the Alcantara Bistro in Gaggi - great pizza. Enjoyed the pool.
The house is accessed by a gravel road which is quite rutted in parts - we had a Jeep Renegade which we were grateful for. Don't let this put you off as the views are worth it.

Un super séjour dans la vallée de l'Alcantara. Les enfants on adoré l'endroit.
De omgeving is geweldig, rustig en privé met het gezelschap van 3 paarden. Het huisje is vrij eenvoudig ingericht en kan wel een opknapbeurt gebruiken.
Verblijven bij Giulia was een zeer fijne ervaring. Het gerestaureerde boerderij-huis gaf een authentiek Siciliaans gevoel. Het zwembad en bbq met het omringende gebergte, welke voor een gemoedelijke rust zorgden, maakte elke ochtend en avond een topervaring. Ook de drie paarden in de wei, gaf het een complete landelijke touch. Ook het interieur was goed onderhouden, met ruime kamers en veel lichtinval en prachtig uitzicht. Kortom, we hebben genoten van ons verblijf.
We had a wonderful stay at this place, located in a beautiful natural area with no neighbors nearby. It was very peaceful and quiet, like a little paradise. We loved the horses, which added such a great vibe to our stay. The road to the villa seems rough, but it’s not as bad as it looks. We had a station wagon and still managed to get there without any problems. Mimmo and Francesca were very friendly and answered all our questions quickly. The bed was super comfortable, and I felt just like at home. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves nature and peace.
The villa was everything we had hoped for. An authentic home in a stunning location. A place we could relax and reconnect with our family and enjoy the beauty, warmth and good food that Sicily has to offer. Mimmo was on hand to solve any minor issues very quickly and his beautiful horses kept us company throughout the day! Villa idylicca is a lovelyplace to stay. Mimmo, the host is great. always very responsive and helpful. We loved our stay. one word of warning for those eho are worried about their rental cars. the road to the villa is a little bit rough but ok if you take it easy.

Fluid and pleasant communication with Giulia and Victor who manage Mimmo's house, who welcomed us warmly and offered us a bottle of wine:) The house is authentic, the fabulous decor between the sea and the mountains, the view from the splendid pool. The presence of horses is a nice little pleasure for animal lovers like us. I would recommend this place that will allow you to discover Sicily off the beaten path!
Thank you for a wonderful stay! The house and surroundings are very serene, but at the same time close to small towns, beaches and Taormina. We enjoyed the pool a lot! There is no dishwasher at the home, but it was not issue for us. We found everything we needed to cook in the kitchen. It was a perfect house for 8 of us including 2 kids.
Jolie maison authentique même si un peu rustique. Le calme, la vue et les chevaux participent au charme de cette maison. Nous y avons passé d'agréables moments, et elle est proche de pleins d'activités. PS : à noter que l'une des chambres n'a pas la climatisation.
Le logement correspondait à la description, l'environnement est très agréable, à l'écart de la ville. Un havre de paix. Permet de facilement se rendre dans les alentours. Massimo a été très sympathique et réactif. La présence des chevaux est très agréable
Cadre idyllique , en pleine nature avec la compagnie des 3 chevaux de Mimmo . La piscine et les installations au top. Ce sont 2 logements indépendants accolés, idéal pour 2 familles par exemple. L'accès est un.peu sportif , avec une route pas toujours carrossable. Attention aux bas de caisse ! Mais c'est la condition pour profiter de ce havre de paix. Nous y retournerons bien volontiers !
Our stay at Villa Idyllica was lovely overall. The location offers stunning views of the mountains and sea, making it a truly tranquil place surrounded by nature. The rustic villa, though a bit basic, met our needs adequately. Mimmo was quick to resolve the water pressure issues we faced during our stay, which we appreciated. Having a Jeep Renegade rental was handy for navigating the rough track to and from the villa. Overall, our time at Villa Idyllica was really pleasant, and we found it to be a peaceful getaway with beautiful surroundings.
We had a delightful stay at Mimmo and Francesca’s place. The house was super clean which was appreciated. There was everything you need. It’s rustic and the views are lovely. the location on the hill is great for the breeze and it feels nice to have the privacy. The drive to the house is a single track but gets easier the more you do it! The garden area and pool were just lovely and the horses too who became our friends. They love being fed oranges from the tree!
Dieses Haus ist einfach ein Traum- vom Garten über Pool, Aussicht,Pferde, Lage- wir haben es geliebt!
Wir hatten, als 2 Familien zu Zehnt, einen wunderschönen Aufenthalt in der Unterkunft. Das authentisch sizilianische Haus mit Pool liegt direkt an der Ranch für die Pferde. Beim Frühstück oder Abendessen unter der Pergola stehen die kinderfreundlichen Pferde direkt neben an.
Een prachtig huis, gesplitst in een groter en kleiner huis, gelegen op een fantastische locatie. Gewoon buiten zitten en om he heen kijken was al een feest. Je kunt makkelijk in een half uur aan zee zijn of in een van de vele steden en dorpen in de omgeving. Lopend is het riviertje Alcantara bereikbaar(hoewel we zelf de eerste 3 minuten per auto gingen omdat langs de weg lopen niet leuk is), waar je heerlijk in het water je kunt vermaken. Natuurlijk waren de paarden voor de kinderen geweldig om zich mee te vermaken. Het enige minpuntje was het geregeld uitvallende internet maar ach, waar heb je internet voor nodig als je daar bent?
Très bon accueil. Lieu isolé donc très bien. Ne pas avoir peur des routes un peu difficiles d’accès mais même avec une petite voiture aucun souci. Très belle vue. A savoir : il n’y a pas de lave vaisselle donc le côté vacances perd de son charme quand on est nombreux !
Nous avons été conquis par la Villa Idyllica, nous y avons passé de beaux moments en famille. Nous étions 4 adultes et 4 enfants. La maison est spacieuse, calme , avec vue sur la montagne, une belle piscine, les cheveaux... Les hôtes,Mimmo et Francesca sont des personnes très sympatiques et disponibles. Merci pour ce magnifique séjour, nous avons tout aimé et nous allons y revenir :-)
Beautiful beautiful house with sea and mountain views not far from Taormina and beaches. Very friendly and welcoming host Mimmo. Excellent mattresses. The road to the cottage is easy to do, also with a normal car. The pool is on the small side but that is no objection for us. Highly recommended, and really value for money.
The prefect place for a relaxed and private holiday. Beautiful surroundings, cosy house with pool. Mimmo, the owner was a great host, or rather a friend; just one word and he would arrange everything in a minute. Go there if you need something special to take care of yourself and your loved ones:)

The house was amazing and in such a great and peaceful location which was exactly what we were looking for with our group for a well deserved work detox! The room were spacious and we had everything we needed. Mimmo and Francesca were great with communication and always here to answer any of our questions. Siamo stati accolti in questo fantastico posto in modo eccellente. Nella bellissima e tipica villa siciliana non manca proprio nulla, c'è tutto. Siamo stati molto bene. Molto bella anche l'esperienza con i cavalli e i gatti che tutti i giorni aspettavano una carezza e un'attenzione. Per noi è stato come stare in un country house con il mare a pochi minuti e Taormina vicinissima. È sicuramente un'esperienza da rifare.
We loved our recent 2 week stay. An amazing relaxing place with fabulous views. The house was great and the garden also with shaded areas and a welcome pool- Mimmo and Francesca are lovely and responded immediately to small queries- we loved the horses who appeared when we arrived back from a days trip. The surrounding villages are worth exploring , lovely bakeries, butchers, fish shops, and some great restaurants. The Paradise restaurant just up the road was a favourite. We had a wonderful family stay at this beautiful house and great location. The house and grounds (pool, garden, horses…) are very peaceful and comfortable. Only thing to note is that the house need some minor updates especially in bathroom. Other than that - PERFECT! Would love to come back again. Mimo, who takes care of the property was very kind and helpful (even with little to no English…)
The villa is a beautiful rustic farm house with two living spaces. There were two cats and three horses who visited us daily. Some features might not be for everyone (remote location, rough dirt road, the bugs that come with a rustic situation and farm animals, simple kitchens with propane stoves), but it was perfect for our group (2 couples). We loved waking up to a visit from the horses, and giving the cats treats at night. We visited many of the surrounding towns, vineyards surrounding Etna, the incredible river gorge, the street markets, etc. The homeowner, Mimmo, was helpful and kind. We would visit again if the opportunity arises.

A private, secluded charming property amidst the beautiful countryside of Sicily. With views of the mountains, the sea and the Alcantara valley in a working countryside setting. The house has been carefully renovated providing spacious and comfortable living with an abundance of outdoor space making it ideal for larger and extended families and groups of friends. We will return.
A very nice place not far from Taormina but still very calm in the countryside, with no neighbours around. Giulia was very helpful in communications and Mimmo who was our contact there was very friendly. We had a great stay.
A wonderfully secluded spot. Quiet and Quaint. The host was utterly gracious and even brought us pizza to say hi. Recommend for those looking for peaceful downtime.

excellent séjour au sein de la maison de Mimmo. le cadre est superbe, champêtre et extrêmement charmant. La maison présente toute les commodités utiles pour passer un agréable séjour. nous avons énormément apprécié la piscine ainsi que le barbecue. Ne pas hésiter à demander à Mimmo des conseils en matière de restaurants, ses recommandations ont été toujours incroyables
Esperienza magnifica. Il Sig. Mimmo è sempre stato super disponibile e gentile con noi. La casa e la Piscina sono fantastiche, per non parlare poi del panorama mozza fiato e della sensazione di pace che ti trasmette il posto in generale. Unici due punti da tenere in considerazione: le finestre delle camere non hanno le zanzariere e la strada per arrivare alla casa è una stradina sterrata di campagna non comodissima. Nessuno di questi due punti però è stato un problema per noi in questa settimana fantastica che abbiamo passato in questa location stupenda! :)
Magnifique adresse pour cet havre de paix ! La maison est typique sicilienne avec ses chevaux à proximité de la propriété ! Le fait qu elle soit retirée et difficile d accès fait tout son charme! Mimmo et Francesca sont adorables et serviables, l accueil fut parfait ! Mon seul regret est de pas être restée plus longtemps !!! Dépaysement total…je reviendrai c est sûr Un grand merci à Mimmo Linda
My family and I spent a wonderful time at Giulia's house. It is the perfect place to relax and especially to enjoy holidays with kids. The house is not only beautiful but also spacious and perfectly equipped. We enjoyed breakfast at the pool with fresh orange or lemon juice from the trees in the garden, loved to watch the horses and the stunning view over the valley and anjoyed nice BBQs including night swims. We had such a great time that we just loved to stay there all day but the house is also quite close to the Alcantara river and not too far from the beaches so there are a couple of things to do near by. I can totally recommend this place and would love to come back another time!

un lieux à l'image de l'hôte, magique ! perdu dans la nature, mais proche de tout, des chevaux qui viennent dire bonjour, à quelques minutes des gorges d'Alcantara, et proche d'un restaurant à ne manquer sous aucun prétexte : le Paradiso. tout est fait pour rendre votre séjour le plus agréable possible. et cerise sur le gâteau, un oranger et un citronnier qui permettent de s'offrir un plein de vitamines tous les jours. l'etna est à moins d'une heure, et la visite vaut le détour en résumé j'ai trouvé mon havre de paix au sud est de la sicile
Giulia & Mimmo’s place is lovely and secluded, set into the hillside of the Alcantara valley. Blessed with plenty of space, a pool and two sweet horses, the property is a great place to chill for a week and only 20 mins from Taormina and 40 mins from the Etna hike. Bear in mind that the property requires a drive down a steep dirt track for access so a small, mobile car is recommended! Great stay!
We - two families from Germany - enjoyed the place and one week vacation in October 2019. Location is a quite place and allows easy recreation. Thanks to an almost perfect weather we had outside breakfast and dinner !!!

La maison est superbement bien placée pour ceux qui aiment la campagne et l'espace. La vue est exceptionnelle. L'accès est un peu rude mais lorsque nous y sommes, nous sommes au paradis. Le silence est idéal pour des vacances en famille. Très reposant.
An idyllic and thoroughly relaxing place to stay. The villa is beautiful and rustic with stunning views, a shady terrace and welcome swimming pool. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need, but if you don’t fancy cooking, the ‘Paradise’ restaurant up the road is great. The house is surrounded by fruit and olive trees - we enjoyed freshly squeezed orange juice on several mornings - and although the drive to the property from the main road is a bit steep and rough in places, the pay-off is that the house feels very private, with the closest neighbours on the other side of a field (and facing away from the house, so you’re not at all overlooked). Mimmo, the key-holder, was friendly and welcoming, very helpful in meeting us much later than expected after our flight was delayed, and came by twice to clean the pool and check everything was ok. A fantastic place to stay for a thoroughly relaxing getaway!
We had wonderful holidays in this beautiful house. It is absolutely quiet and has an amazing view over the countryside. We fell in love with Sicily and its people and we are thinking about coming back soon. Mimmo, to whom belongs the house, was incredibly friendly. We loved this place from the beginning.
We truly enjoyed the stay at your fantastic place. The pictures promised much and each promise was fulfilled. We all loved the old house with all the little details, the outstanding view, the pool and the horses being around. Thank you for giving recommendations what to do where to shop and dine. They were very helpful. We welcomed the separated space that was used by out teenage kids. Altogether a great experience! Thank you!

Endroit sortie tout droit d'une scène du Parrain, vue parfaite, la maison est grande et le calme au rendez-vous.
