"Endroit sortie tout droit d'une scène du Parrain, vue parfaite, la maison est grande et le calme au rendez-vous. Endroit qui pousse à la détente et tres bien situé pour visiter, aller à la plage, grimper sur le dos du volcan. Mille mercis à Mimmo pour tes conseils, nos discussions et toutes tes attentions."Iskra

"Rustic perfection. After a week’s stay with 7 other friends, I couldn’t recommend the villa more.
Access is a little tricky, so either hire a car or ask Mimmo (the v helpful owner) for taxi recommendations. However, once you arrive at the villa you soon find little reason to want to leave!
The pool is great and is kept clean a couple of times a week; there are plenty of loungers; outdoor furniture is plentiful, so there’s lots of opportunity to enjoy the amazing view from the villa. We even ate oranges from the garden’s orange tree!
Inside, the villa is very well equipped. Beds are big and comfortable, the kitchen has just about every utensil you could think of and there is plenty of fridge/freezer space.
The relatively close Taormina is BEAUTIFUL and well worth a visit if you have the time.
Thank you, Mimmo, for a great stay!!"

"Gorgeous house in the Sicilian countryside - wonderful
We were a family of four - mum and dad, and two sons aged 18 and 16 - and we all loved it. Our teenagers raved about the wonderful view to the sea - didn't even complain too much that the wifi was a little hit and miss. The house is so comfortable, the pool perfect for a little cooling dip and we loved BBQs on the terrace. We all felt very sad to be leaving.
You really need a car to reach anywhere other than the closest restaurant (which we thought was nice enough but not as good as Uliveto's further towards Gaggie) and the dirt track leading to the house was a bit troubling when we first arrived, but we soon got used to it.
There's a pretty good mini market in Gaggie and a fab bar/pasticerria for breakfast Granita and bread - plus of course Gelato and wonderful cakes.
We all had a wonderful week and definitely recommend to anyone looking for rustic charm, peace and quiet and fab views."

"The Sicilian charm, the calm, the happiness!
The villa is particularly well situated for discovering the surroundings of Mount Etna, the Nebrodi Mountains, the Ionian coast, etc. The house is really nice, especially the outside with the pool, the well landscaped terrace, always keeping a cool and a superb view on the surroundings. The master word is TRANQUILITY, for the somewhat chaotic road that leads to it completely isolates it from the neighborhood. Mimo, the owner is very friendly (he offered us local wine, and brought us fresh pastries one morning ...) and nice as everything. This house is full of charm, which is far from the case, I believe other Sicilian rentals. Only Wi-fi is not up to the standard ... but good, maintainat with the smartphone ... In short, nothing that can really spoil a wonderful stay here."

"Midden in de natuur
Zeer rustige locatie in het midden van de Siciliaanse bergen. Toch zeer dichtbij de grote trekpleisters zoals Taormina, Alcantara-kloof en Etna.
Zeer behulpzame sleutelbewaarder.
Wel moeilijke toegangsweg (600m zeer steil, smal en zeer hobbelig)."

"A lovely Italian house with a beautiful view.
A spacious house that was spotlessly clean. The drive up a steep track was a surprise and confident driving was needed. The local town had an adequate mercato. The views were stunning and it was lovely to sit in the shade by the pool for breakfast/dinner/wine. Mimo, the local contact was friendly and kind and very responsive to any issues we had (house running out of water. He put us on a new'system' within the hour). The house had all the amenities, washing machine hair dryer iron etc and was cool and private. A car was needed to go anywhere, there wasn't any thing within walking distance. It was a lovely house and we enjoyed our holiday."

"At the end of a dirt road, the house is totally private with wonderful views down to the coast and the sea. It is a great place to barbecue and hang out around the little pool with friends and family, and there is a very nice restaurant within walking distance for special evening meals. The owner, Mimmo, is a lovely man and even brought us pastries for breakfast one morning. He keeps two beautiful horses at the house and we enjoyed their company as well! It's a short twenty minute car ride down to Giardini Naxos which is a nice and cheaper alternative to Taormina for evenings out, and the entry point to the motorway for longer trips. We went up Etna from the north which is less commercialised and you can walk up to some of the lower craters by yourself - it was July but there were no tourist crowds at all.
Everything went smoothly with the arrangements, and the lady managing the villa rental was very accommodating regarding our arrival time, and had lots of useful local advice. If you prefer to stay in older houses with big windows and sea breezes rather than air conditioning and satellite tv, then this is an ideal place for you - we loved it. Thank you for ensuring we had a very special week!"

"Beautiful house and garden, excellent views, very tranquil and private
The owner was an absolute star. He left us to it but offered us all the assistance we needed. Would absolutely stay here again. Just be prepared for a bumpy driveway!
Great location for access to Etna region and Taormina and not a long way from the airport in Catania."

"We stayed there in a group with three adults and five teenagers. The house was lovely, the pool and internet were concessions to the youngsters and they were happy. What the grown-ups liked best were things like the fruit-laden orange tree in the garden, standing on the balcony in the early morning able to look right down to the sea. The owner was charming, he even took us for a ride on his beautiful horses, and in spite of being located in deep countryside at the end of a dirt road, there was a really good restaurant further down the road for those evenings when you might want to walk home, and otherwise Giardini Naxos and Taormina were an easy 15-20 minute drive away. We went up Etna from the north side, which is also relatively nearby. Thankyou for a great stay!"

An authentically restored country-house oozing charm of an idyllic past amidst a delightful hilly landscape … from here a superb view extends up to the Ionian Sea, just eight Kilometres away, while the cute pool under a fig tree becomes a truly tempting modern comfort.
Villa Idyllica is located right below a rocky hill. Following a path, you can reach its summit and enjoy an even superior view. It is also likely that you’ll see the four horses of the owner of Villa Idyllica running freely in this unspoiled scenery!
The villa consists of a main building and an adjacent dépendance. The main building is about 110 m2 on 2 floors. On the ground floor there is a large living room with adjoining fully equipped kitchen, including oven and microwave. A staircase leads up to the sleeping area with three bedrooms and a bathroom with bathtub with shower and a washing machine. The dépendence, which is about 40m2, provides you with an extra kitchen, a second bathroom and a fourth double bedroom on a mezzanine. You can access it from the outside, right next to the entrance of the main building.
A garden full of Mediterranean vegetation surrounds the villa and, under a centuries-old olive tree, provides you with a great place to barbecue.
Villa Idyllica is ideal for a relaxing retreat and offers a genuine version of Sicily that is truly family-friendly. The first restaurant - the excellent Paradise Restaurant - is within walking distance (400 meters) and without spending much time in the car you can reach the stunning sandy beaches of Giardini Naxos, Taormina, the impressive gorges and ravines of the River Alcantara and, of course, the Mount Etna and all the picturesque villages, as well as prestigious wineries and vineyards on its flanks.
SURROUNDING
The Alcantara Valley is one of the lushest valleys of Sicily thanks to the presence of the Alcantara River that supplies irrigation water to the many citrus orchards cultivated in the area all year round. Even during the hot and dry Sicilian summers, the Alcatara Rivers remains ice cold, providing to all its visitors with fresh relaxing moments. You can simply wet your feet and peacefully lying down on its beaches and on its rocks, or doing fun activities such us tubing excursions or exploring the river with its lava-stone walls and waterfalls by hiking or by riding a horse.
Villa Idyllica is a truly strategic base from where to explore the Eastern side of Sicily. The charming town of Taormina, its vibrant coast and coast villages (30km of beaches from Fondachello to Sant’Alessio Siculo), Mt Etna and its authentic villages are all very close by.
If you are a wine-lover you cannot miss Castiglione di Sicilia, a nearby village known as ‘the city of wine’ (‘Città del Vino’) for its famous vineyards and wineries.
