Description
This property lies just across the water from Africa, in the extreme southeast of Sicily. A couple of antique fishermans cottages, situated right on the seafront at Marzamemi, have been tastefully restructured and renovated. Some of Sicilys finest natural beaches are found nearby.
The fishermans cottages have been renovated with an eye to conserving the heritage of the local area. They are situated right on the waterfront in Marzamemi, which is an ancient fishing village in the extreme southeast of Sicily. From the houses wooden terrace, there is an incredible view of the village, its small port and the vividly painted boats. The tradition of all things marine is still very much alive in Marzamemi today. Only recently has it become a popular destination for Italians who enjoy the combination of the areas natural beaches and the vibrancy of an authentic coastal village. The village boasts many restaurants, pizzerias and shops selling delicious local produce such as locally caught and processed tuna and swordfish or the famous cherry tomatoes from nearby Pachino.
The almost identical houses, Sarda and Spada, consist of a double bedroom, a bathroom, a living room with small kitchen and two comfortable single sofa beds. The living room leads out onto the wooden terrace, with its set of table and chairs. Sarda is different from Spada because of the presence of a fireplace and because it is slightly closer to the sea. Please note that the houses are very close to the main square of Marzamemi, where the Sicilians in the weekend (and in summer every day) enjoy their evening walk and some bars put the music loud until late. The houses location in the centre of the village make Sarda ideal for a stay at any time of the year. In winter either the fireplace or gas heater can be used to heat the houses.
