Description
Villa Alema sits on the southeastern flanks of Mount Etna just a few minutes outside the town of Aci S. Antonio. The villa has high ceilings and smooth lavastone features. The garden is beautifully tended, with a perfect lawn, Mediterranean trees and plants and flowers. The wonderful pool (size 16 x 10 m., deep 2,9 m.) is in use from the 3rd April to 31 October. Indoor and outdoor living combine seamlessly due to a series of bright living areas and their communication with the garden, that is beautifully tended and has areas, which remain cool and shaded throughout the day. Situated near the town of Aci S. Antonio on the east coast of Sicily Villa Alemΰ is a good base from which to visit Taormina, Acireale, Catania, Mount Etna and the various fascinating villages on its flanks called 'paesi Etnei'. The picturesque fisherman's villages Santa Maria La Scala and Aci Trezza (7 km) both have pebbled beaches and a small port with vividly painted boats and good restaurants. In summer the villages become a seaside destination for the islanders who enjoy diving off the wooden platforms into the cool Mediterranean waters.
The house is on two floors. From the main entrance one accesses the living room that ones was a palmento, an antique olive crusher. The palmento opens onto a wonderful covered patio area, perfect for al fresco dining. Below and on top of the palmento are lounges. Furthermore, the ground floor consists of a spacious kitchen, a room with a snooker table, a double room, another double room that contains also a single bed, and two bathrooms (with shower and toilet). The first floor consists of a living room, a bathroom (with shower, bidet and toilet) and three double rooms. Internet connection is available. There are also two terraces with a wide view on Mount Etna.
